Chris Seaton is an Owensboro native who has served the local recovery community in multiple roles over the past 20 years. The relationships he’s built throughout his career are his most valuable resources. He is a trusted servant who has been a vocal advocate for reducing the stigma often associated with substance use disorders. He loves educating others through sharing his story as a person in long term recovery. His personal history and his professional experience enable him to provide comprehensive care that produces results.
Seaton started TrueNorth sober living in 2017, here he helped grow and build relationships between the recovery community and our professional partners. Most recently he started The Owensboro Recovery Project, a nonprofit community organization where individuals exchange ideas about multiple pathways for recovery and support each other in the process. Chris is a Registered Yoga Instructor as well as a Peer Support Specialist in Kentucky. He believes in treating the whole individual through evidence-based practices. He is excited to get to work on this project in his hometown! His passion lies in empowering others to recreate their lives!
Joe is native to the Owensboro area, married to his wife Angel whom they have 4 kids to take care of. He enjoys deer hunting as a hobby and has actively been serving in the recovery community for the last 15 years. He is 2009 alumni of Owensboro Regional Recovery and Daviess County Drug Court. Shortly after getting sober, he went on a retreat where Jesus Radically changed his life, that only multiplied his confidence and commitment to long-term recovery. His newfound purpose in life inspired him to step into serving others, and in 2011 he became the first alumni to be hired by Owensboro Regional Recovery. Shortly after he took the job as Executive Director of St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter. He served there for 4 years before leaving to take the ED job at Friends of Sinners in 2015. He sits on several local boards and is the chairman of the board for Audubon Area Community Care Clinic.
Joe believes in people over policies, and treating each person individually while addressing their trauma and hurts rather than using the template model. He believes an individualized treatment plan is the key to long-term recovery when coupled with the spiritual aspect. Substance abuse is so complex that we should treat the individual rather than expecting them to conform to be successful. Here, at Rooted, we’ve created a model that is sustainable through a person-centered approach.
Roger is native of the Owensboro area and has actively been serving in the recovery community for the last 19 years. His introduction to the recovery community was a court order that provided the time to address behavior issues, trauma, and criminal thinking. Roger successfully completed an 18-month program in Owensboro and stayed on as staff where he realized his heart and passion was to help others find the same freedom. In the 12-step program, which allowed him to get sober, he realized the spiritual side was the solution and he wanted to grow that part of his life. Shortly after becoming a Christian he started a faith based meeting that grew exponentially. Roger recognized the Christ centered need, and He founded a ministry called Friends of Sinners in 2009. Friends of Sinners is a long-term residential, Christ-centered ministry assisting men and women with substance abuse issues. He continued to serve, helping others find recovery and their own faith and was led to provide a place of worship for those who normally wouldn’t come to church. so that they too could be introduced to Jesus Christ. In 2017, Roger and his wife and another couple stepped out in faith and started Matthew’s Table where he now serves as the pastor of preaching and vision. Roger believes the spiritual side of recovery is the long-term goal at hand but meeting people where they are at and providing a holistic approach on the front end will allow the individual to build a foundation for sustainable recovery.
